Keynote Speaker: Dr. Manjula Salomon
“Language Support for the New International Student”

We are pleased to announce the NEALS spring conference at The Hotchkiss School that will focus on language support for the range of international students in private schools today. The conference includes a keynote speaker as well as a faculty and student panel that will present several models of English language support for international students.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Manjula Salomon, Assistant Head of School and Director of Global Initiatives at The Hotchkiss School.
Dr. Manjula Salomon was educated in India and the U.S., and she has taught in India, Iran, the U.S., and most recently Indonesia. A dynamic teacher, Dr. Salomon has focused her career on the understanding of student learning within international frameworks and the critical thinking habits of mind that are ancillary to this. She has led many teacher training workshops and is well-known as a teacher of the Theory of Knowledge course, a core requirement in schools offering the International Baccalaureate (I.B.) Diploma. Manjula and her husband, Stuart, an English teacher, taught at the Jakarta International School of Indonesia for 22 years. Born in India, Manjula is a dual citizen of the U.S. and India. She earned B.A. and M.A. degrees from Stella Maris College, the University of Madras, India, and came to the U.S. on a Fulbright Scholarship. She holds an M.A. in Teaching from the School for International Training in Vermont and the Doctor of Education degree from the Center for International Education at the University of Massachusetts.
Registration begins at 8:30 am, and the conference will run from 9:30 am until 2:30 pm.
Lunch will be served at 11:15.
This conference is open to NEALS members and their guests.
Conference Fee: $50.00 for members and $75.00 for non-NEALS members
