Dear Member,

If you ever wanted to join us, this is the year!  Please Save the Date for our two-day, 20th Anniversary Conference and Celebration on April 4th and 5th, 2019!

NEALS enjoyed an energetic board meeting in August.  We finalized plans for our 20th Anniversary, completed key components of our 2018 strategic plan, and elected Laura Foody, a new board member with extensive experience in web design.  In addition, we welcomed Sarah Ross, as our highly skilled executive assistant to handle some of NEALS operations, to plan our 20th, and to update the website. A fellow learning specialist, she hopes to add to our vibrant, password protected, members’ resource page and newsletters.
For the 20th Anniversary at the Westford Regency Conference Center in Westford, Massachusetts, we have lined up exciting national speakers on the subjects of Executive Functioning and Technology for Accommodations and for Reading Instruction.  During our Celebratory Dinner on the 4th, we will hallmark the efforts and best practices of learning specialists in schools throughout the Northeast, celebrating you, our founders, and other leaders in the field.  We plan to invite the majority of our past speakers and your favorite educational vendors to join us.
These and other initiatives provide greater benefits for our members, increase membership, and elevate our professionalism in meeting the needs of students with learning issues.  Please renew your membership today at https://old.nealsonline.org/join/ and let us know your plans for the conference.
Please also ask your school if they would like to support NEALS with a grant during this special year.  Your fellow learning specialists, and a multiplicity of students, will have you to thank.

Later in September you will be hearing from your Regional Director about fall events. To ensure that you receive all of our newsletters and updates, please put membership@nealsonline.org in your “contacts.”
Sincerely grateful,
Susan
